What's In My Weekly Share & other FAQs?
What is in my CSA Share?
Careful planning, experience, hard work & weather will determine what is in season and how much. Our share is sized to provide vegetables for a household of 4-6 with diverse diets, or 2 adults with a primarily plant based diet.  Usually no two weeks are exactly the same. Below is a list of what we try to grow and when.

Other FAQs:

What Happens if I cannot pick-up my Share?

We want you, our members, to eat the produce we are growing for you!  We therefore try our best to be as accommodating as we are able to help work with your needs & busy schedules.

With 24-hours notice, members are welcome to switch pick-up days or locations or, for half-share members, from one week to another.  We ask that members please respect our 24-hour-notice policy by notifying us 24 hours before the beginning of pick-up (2 p.m. the day before your scheduled pick-up) if you need to switch for the week.

For last-minute emergencies, we are able to hold shares until the following day.  In this case, members must call before the end of their scheduled pick-up to notify us.  We ask that members are mindful not to abuse this system, as it requires extra time, work, and coordination for us.

Members are welcome to send a friend, neighbor, or family member to pick-up their share-otherwise shares will be donated to a local food pantry.

Can I split a share with a friend?

Yes!  Members are welcome to split their share if the amount is too much or they would like to share the experience of weekly pickups.  We ask that either only one member pick up per week, or both members come at the same time to pick-up. For Pick Your Own items such as flowers and herbs, that are usually free choice, please be conscientious of your amounts.

Are your on-farm shares pre-boxed?

Our Tuesday and Friday harvest is laid-out market-style, so members collect what is in the share each week: you box or bag it for yourself.

Our Saturday morning and drop-off Emmaus shares are pre-boxed.

Do I have a choice of what items I can take each week?

Most items are allotted in the weekly share, meaning we divide the harvest evenly among all members for the more popular items and staple crops, such as tomatoes, garlic, onions, carrots, salad greens, and potatoes. The more unique or specialty items we try to include as choice items, so that members can pick and choose among these vegetables. When available, we try to offer "free choice" of items which we have in abundance, so that families can choose how much they need for the week.

I have physical limitations which prevent me from participating in Pick Your Own, will the farmers be able to pick these crops for me?

Yes, we are able to assist in picking PYO crops for those members with physical limitations.  There is no additional fee for this.  There will be a sign in the pick-up room for you to let us know if you have a physical limitation which prevents you from being able to participate in PYO that week. Because labor is one of our biggest costs, we are able to pick half of what is included in PYO for the week: for example if PYO includes 2 Qts of peas, your share will include 1 Qt of peas for the week.  This allows us to provide you with the same value of product.

Do I have to do my Pick Your Own on a Tuesday or Friday during CSA pick-up hours?

No, you are welcome to come to the farm to do your PYO for the week anytime Monday-Saturday during daylight hours.  PYO is closed on Sundays.  If your pick-up day is rainy, or you're just tight on time, feel free to come back another day to pick in the sun, or spend time leisurely picking with your family!  We do ask that half-share members do their PYO on the same week as their scheduled pick-up, rather than waiting for their "off" week to do their PYO harvest.

Are any of the additional products from local producers available for retail purchase during CSA pick-up or do I have to pre-buy all of the additional share items?

Some products from other local farmers and producers are only offered through pre-purchased CSA shares, while others can be bought at pick-up.  Details on our share "add-ons" for 2019 coming soon!

Can I join the Egg, Fruit, or Dairy Shares if I am not a Good Work Farm Vegetable CSA Member?

Yes, you are welcome to join any of these shares and pick-up at Good Work Farm on your scheduled pick-up day without joining the Vegetable Share.
