Good Work From was born out of a coincidence of wants of Sarah Edmonds and Anton Shannon, both graduates of Lehigh County and Penn State's Beginning Farmer Training Program at The Seed Farm. Together they started and managed Good Work Farm for two years. GWF grew diversified vegetables for 50 families in 2011 and 75 in 2012. They sold produce at the Kutztown Growers Market and to Local Restaurant and well as donating produce to Friend Inc. in Kutztown and New Bethany Ministries in Bethlehem.
Anton managed Good Work Farm in its third growing season at the Seed Farm, feeding 35 CSA Share Members with the help of one dedicated working share, and weekly volunteers from VIA.
In the 2014 season, Anton formed a farm partnership with Lisa Miskelly. Together, Lisa and Anton transitioned off of the land at The Seed Farm in order to secure a longer-term land situation for 2014 and beyond, where we can reap the rewards of our investments in soil health, infrastructure and reduced weed pressure, while incorporating the use of draft horses and the raising of grass-based livestock into our multi-dimensional diversified farm. In 2015, Anton and Lisa will be expanding the CSA membership to feed over one hundred local families.
